savetheinsects.com was created by Norwegian entomologist and author Hjørdis Bakke as a means of talking about the insect population preservation efforts being funded by the sales of her most recent book. Additionally, helpful DIY projects (like this bee hotel) and informative articles are shared.

In the end, this site is a product of the pressing need to reverse the global decline in insect populations, caused — among other things — by uninhibited use of insecticides, mass deforestation and the invasion and “cleaning” of areas that were previously inhabited by flowering plants, rotting wood and diverse ecosystems — all crucial to the survival of insects.
